Flamboro Speedway – June 15, 2019 Recap

Despite rain being in the area, Flamboro Speedway was able to get some racing in on Saturday, June 15 with some of the scheduled events being run before the skies opened up.

Ontario Pro Challenge Series

Mike Norris would grab the early lead, and never look back as he cruised to the victory in the Ontario Pro Challenge feature. Peter Hattin used a mid-race restart to take second-place ahead of Tim Norris, with Julia Capirchio and Rick Seeley rounding out the top-five. Bryan Seveanus failed to finish as a result of a mechanical issue.


Grisdale Racing Products Late Models

Taking the lead off the drop of the green flag, J.R. Fitzpatrick led flag-to-flag en route to scoring the victory ahead of Kevin Albers, Mark Burbridge, Rick Burbridge, and Carson Nagy. Rob Di Venanzo finished sixth despite an early race spin ahead of Mike Westwood, Gary Elliott, Mike Klotz, and Chad Corcoran. Jake Gilbert finished 11th after a pair of incidents ahead of Brandon Feeney and Chris Howse.


Ray’s Towing & Recovery Super Stocks

Brad Collison used an early race restart to his advantage, taking the lead in the super stock feature. Gerrit Tiemersma tried throughout the second half trying to get back by, using the bumper at times, but with no success en route to finishing in the runner-up spot. Nick Troback finished third, followed by Justin Collison and Randy Rusnell. Austin Penney and AJ Miller rounded out the field.


McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks

Despite being hounded all race long through the lap traffic, David Rockwood managed to hold off Wayde Thorne en route to scoring the victory. The battle for third was close through the first half of the race, but Phil Givens managed to get the spot and drive away ahead of Leo Labarbera and Jared Bodner. Dale Lucas finished sixth, followed by Chris Pendlebury, Gillian Hils, Jimmy Hooper, and Jeff Laflamme.

Jamie Whittam finished 11th, followed by Kyle Lucas, Brian Gamble, and Mike Hooper. Jordan Morris failed to finish due to mechanical, while Kaitlyn Wallace did not take the green flag.

After missing out on their features due to the weather, the Canadian Vintage Modifieds hope Mother Nature plays nice so they can run on Saturday, June 22. They will be joined by the Klotz Auto Repair & Engine Machine Shop Mini Stocks, McClurkin Properties Cambridge Pure Stocks, and the Pro 4 Modifieds. The pit gate opens at 4 pm, followed by the front gate opening at 5pm with racing starting at 6:30 pm.
