Kyle Crump Crosses the Border and Strikes Gold at Flamboro Speedway

MILLGROVE, Ontario --- Kyle Crump made his trip from the United States to Flamboro Speedway on Tuesday, August 13 worthwhile, picking up the feature win in the Outlaw Super Late Model Gold Rush 124.

Kyle Crump was fast from his first laps on the property, laying down a lap of 14.400 in the qualifying session. An invert of seven did not slow him down, as he quickly found his way to the top-five by Lap 5, taking the top spot just six laps later. He then led the remaining 113 laps en route to picking up the checkered flag.

Fellow Blake Childers turned his second-place qualifying effort into a runner-up. He also had to make his way forward from the invert, entering the top-five on Lap 53, before finding his way into second on Lap 73.

J.R. Fitzpatrick and Kyle Steckly were third and fourth, but neither made it easy on themselves. Both took the green flag at the back of the field after issues following qualifying despite placing themselves fourth and fifth on the board. The resulting setback provided excitement for the fans in attendance in watching the hometown heroes drive their way from the back of the field.

Glenn Watson completed the top-five, ahead of Jaden Cretacci, Ethan Counryea, Brad Pearsall, John Owen, and Todd Campbell.

Dario Capirchio led the opening nine laps, before finding himself at the back of the field on Lap 10. He worked his way back up to 11th by the checkered in front of Chris Burrows, Mike Miller, and Rob Bickle.

Several drivers failed to completed the 124 laps, including John Fletcher, Brandon Passer, Thayne Hallyburton, Shawn Chenoweth, Ryan Dick, and Doug Gillespie. Notably, Shawn Chenoweth ran inside the top-five until having a motor let go on him with just 16 laps on the board.

Hogan Law & McClurklin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks

The Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks were on-hand as well, putting on a 30-lap invitational event in their own hunt for gold.

Jo Lawrence was fourth quickest in qualifying (19.061 seconds), found himself restarting on the second row after an incident with five laps to go. He took full advantage of the opportunity, making the move with two laps to go to take the victory.

Flamboro Speedway regulars Gary Slama and Cam Thomson completed the podium, while Chase Mitchell’s dream season continued with a fourth. Gillian Hils rounded out the top-five, in front of Jordan Wilms, Kris Lawrence, Craig Cole, Spencer Riddell, and Brody Rickwood.

Chris Burrows was 11th, ahead of Rick Mitchell. Phil Givens was the quick qualifier on the night with a lap of 18.910 seconds, and led until he went around for a spin after contact with James Houghton while battling for the lead. Givens and Houghton were credited with 13th and 14th respectively, followed by Hailey Hill, Rob Hoskins, Leo Labarbera, Chance Rogers, Matt Young, and Rachel Mitchell.

Dylan Peckham was 21st, ahead of Josh Glos, Mac Ingram, Mark Allan, Jordan Fidler, Megan Mitchell, Sarah Penny, and Bryan Batty. Courtney Scott and Mike Hall failed to finish.

Alex Stewart, Chris Pendlebury and Jake Hambly failed to qualify, while Sterling Roberts was disqualified after the session.

Shout-out to GSR - Glenn Styres Racing, London Recreational racing, BT Racing, and Icon Era Parts for stepping up to sponsor the divisions on hand for the night.

The next racing event is scheduled at Flamboro Speedway on Saturday, August 24, featuring the Ontario Sportsman Series. The night will also include the T.Q. Can-Am Midgets, Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
