Mike Podd and Rodney Rutherford Victorious at Flamboro Speedway


MILLGROVE, Ontario --- On a night with a discount for fans in attendance at the front gate, they were treated to a great show by the drivers at Flamboro Speedway.


Canadian Vintage Modifieds


Mike Podd led flag-to-flag to win the first feature ahead of Jeremy Riopelle, TJ Marshall, Jae Pepin, and Rodney Rutherford. Scott Tonelli ran just outside the top-five for sixth in front of Steve Murdoch and Maddux Pepin. Sam Trewolla did not finish.

Rodney Rutehrford led all 20 laps en route to winning the second feature ahead of TJ Marshall, Jeremy Riopelle, Mike Podd, and Scott Tonelli. Jae Pepin fell out of the top-five with four laps to go for sixth in front of Steve Murdoch, Maddux Pepin, and Sam Trewolla.


Mike Klotz failed to start both of the features.


Mini Stocks


Mike Thomson led flag-to-flag to win the first feature ahead of Matt Young, Kaitlyn Wallace, Mike Gilmour, and Michael Kenny. Nikki King rounded out the cars remaining on the track as Bobby Mercer and Tyler Lewis failed to finish.


Mike Gilmour took the lead with six laps to go to win the second feature ahead of Mike Thomson, Matt Young, Kaitlyn Wallace, and Michael Kenny. Nikki King rounded out the cars on the track as Bobby Mercer and Tyler Lewis failed to finish.


Gillian Hils and Mark Grieve failed to start either of the features.


Pure Stocks


Courtney Scott paced all 25 laps to win the first feature ahead of Gary Slama, Jordan Wilms, Mark Allan, and Spencer Riddell. Wayde Thorne made his way forward in the running order for sixth in front of Chase Mitchell, Rodney Rutherford, Leo Labarbera, and Phil Givens.


Craig Cole made his way from the back to place 11th, followed by Rick Mitchell, Cam Thomson, Allen Matttice, Kyle Lucas, Mike Hall, Alex Stewart, Chris Burrows, and Sarah Penny. Mac Ingram was 21st ahead of Dylan Peckham and Megan Mitchell. Owen Brooker and Lisa Barton failed to finish, while Chance Rogers did not take the green flag.


Wayde Thorne’s title-defense continued with a win in the second feature ahead of Gary Slama, Spencer Riddell, Jordan Willms, and Rodney Rutherford. Chase Mitchell rebounded after falling back early for a sixth in front of Leo Labarbera, Craig Cole, Mark Allan, and Rick Mitchell.


Phil Givens placing 11th surprised some people, with him followed by Courtney Scott, Cam Thomson, Allen Mattice, Rachel Mitchell, Kyle Lucas, Mac Ingram, Sarah Penny, Chris Burrows, and Megan Mitchell. Mike Halll fell outside the top-20 with just five laps on the board to place 21st ahead of Dylan Peckham. Alex Stewart failed to finish, while Chance Rogers, Owen Brooker, and Lisa Barton did not take the green flag.


With over 20 pure stocks on the property, the decision was made to run a Dash for Cash at the end of the night with the bottom finishers from the feature.


Rachel Mitchell would out-run Phil Givens to pick up the win ahead of Courtney Scott, Chris Burrows, and Mac Ingram. Sarah Penny was sixth in front of Megan Mitchell, Mike Hall, Kyle Lucas, and Cam Thomson.


Southern Ontario Modified Association (SOMA)


Bob Mercer led flag-to-flag to win the first feature ahead of Shannon Morris, Mark Lucas, Ken Mercer, and Sean Asselin. Cliff Hodgkinson was sixth in front of Andrew Snyder and Kelly Martin. Brad Maitland and Josh Fera failed to finish.


Bob Mercer took the lead with just five laps on the board, pacing the remaining 15 laps to go for the daily double ahead of Shannon Morris, Cliff Hodgkinson, Sean Asselin, and Josh Fera. Ken Mercer was sixth in front of Andrew Snyder. Kelly Martin, Mark Lucas, and Brad Maitland failed to finish.


The next stock car racing event at Flamboro Speedway is taking place on Saturday, May 25 with the season opener for the Ontario Pro Challenge Series. The on-track action will also feature the Pro Late Models, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
