Willigar and Rutherford Split Canadian Vintage Modified Features

MILLGROVE, Ontario --- There were a couple rain drops, but the drivers and fans were able to persevere through to put on a good show on Saturday night at Flamboro Speedway.


Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modifieds


Ricky Willigar led the way in the first Grindstone Landscaping Canadian Vintage Modified feature ahead of TJ Marshall and Jason Keen. Jae Pepin was fourth after leading early in front of Darren Dryden, who filled in for Ty Riopelle. Rodney Rutherford was sixth, followed by Doug Hood, Scott Tonelli, Ian McIntyre, and Steve Murdoch.


Maddux Pepin was 11th, ahead of Dave Evison Sr., Samantha Trewolla, Ian Henwood, and Heath Penny. Mike Podd, Cam Thomson and Jordan Ramsbottom failed to finish.


Rodney Rutherford won the second feature after holding off Jason Keen, Ricky Willigar, TJ Marshall and Darren Dryden in the late stages. Scott Tonelli was sixth in front of Ian McIntyre, Jae Pepin, Steve Murdoch, and Dave Evison Sr.


Ian Henwood was 11th, followed by Samantha Trewolla, while Doug Hood, Cam Thomson, and Heath Penny failed to finish. Mike Podd, Maddux Pepin, and Jordan Ramsbottom did not take the green flag.


Southern Ontario Pro 4 Modifieds


Shannon Morris dominated the first BCW Lumber Southern Ontario Pro 4 Modified heat ahead of Jayden Pokupec, Ken Mercer, Mark Lucas, Dan Pettit, and Jesse Gibson. Brad Maitland failed to finish.


Bob Mercer made the pass to win the second heat in front of Riley Mercer, Cliff Hodgkinson, Chean Carey, Brodie Gibson, Kelly Martin, and Mike Baker.


Mark Lucas inherited the lead after an incident, pacing the rest of the way en route to winning the feature ahead of Cliff Hodgkinson, Shannon Morris, Ken Mercer, and Jesse Gibson. Brad Maitland battled his way to sixth in front of Kelly Martin, Mike Baker, and Riley Mercer. Jayden Pokupec failed to finish, along with Shean Carey. Bob Mercer and Brodie Gibson tanged together on Lap 2, while Dan Pettit did not take the green flag.


Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stocks


Matt Young led the way in the first Klotz Auto Repair Mini Stock feature ahead of Mike Thomson, Tyler Lewis, Jacob Sutcliffe, and Blaise Shaw. Chris Pendlebury placed sixth in front of Nathan Rhea, with Bobby Mercer failing to finish after mechanical gremlins.


Jacob Sutcliffe led flag-to-flag in the second feature ahead of Matt Young, Mike Thomson, Tyler Lewis, and Blaise Shaw. Chris Pendlebury was sixth once again, this time in front of Nathan Rhea as Bobby Mercer did not take the green flag.


Will Gibbons was disqualified following the event.


Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stocks


Chase Mitchell out-battled his sister Rachel Mitchell to win the first Hogan Law & McClurkin Properties of Cambridge Pure Stock feature ahead of Spencer Riddell, Wayde Thorne, and chance Rogers. Leo Labarbera was able to come out on-top of a close battle for sixth in front of Karl Sault, Rick Mitchell, John Cote, and Brady Cox.


Dan Storey made his way forward for 11th, followed by Hailey Hill, Megan Mitchell, Patrick Farrow, Teagan Ellis, Mark Allan, and Jeff Elsliger. Cam Thomson failed to finish after mechanical issues.


Wayde Thorne made his way forward in the second Pure Stock feature to pick up the win ahead of Spencer Riddell, Brady Cox, Cam Thomson, and Chase Mitchell. Dan Storey put together another solid run in sixth in front of Karl Sault, John Cote, Hailey Hill, and Rachel Mitchell.


Rick Mitchell was 11th, followed by Teagan Ellis and Megan Mitchell. Patrick Farrow was the first of those who failed to finish, pulling into the pits on Lap 17. Leo Labarbera, Chance Rogers, and Mark Allan were taken out on a Lap 2 wreck. Jeff Elsliger did not take the green flag.


This Saturday, May 24 will see the season opener for the Steel City Super Stock Series, as well as a $2,000 to win Pro Late Model 50-lap event. The night also includes the Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Mini Stocks, and Pure Stocks.
