MILLGROVE, Ontario --- The season may be winding down, but that doesn’t mean the memorable moments are ending for drivers and teams. Saturday night would see a driver score their first career victory, with his teammate close behind.
The Ontario Sportsman Series headlined the program, with a 50-lap affair in their second visit to the facility this season. Setting the quickest lap in time trials at 16.473, Todd Shepherd turned it into a dominating performance. He would lead all the laps after starting on the pole to score the victory.
Alex Gunette, who was running the event to gain experience for the next day’s NASCAR Pinty’s Series races, hounded Shepherd throughout the race, but was unable to find his way by en route to a runner-up to give Hryniuk/Hall Motorsports a one-two finish.
Local favourite Chad Corcoran scored a third, followed by Kevin Gallant and Kevin Trevellin. Chad McGlynn placed sixth, followed by Michael Hryniuk, Gord Bennett, Sam Fellows, and Brad Robinson. Mark Patrick and Brandon Patrick rounded out the field.
Ontario Legend Series
Taking the lead on an early race restart from the outside, and then holding off a challenge with five laps to go, Parker Traves would take home his victory, following up his Canadian Legends National win at Peterborough Speedway a couple weeks ago.
Cody Newell finished second, followed by Kevin Foisy, Joe Adams, and Hudson Nagy.
Kenny McNicol Jr. placed sixth, while Matt Haufe rebounded from a mid-race spin for a seventh. Cory Richardson followed in eighth, in front of Glen Morris, Cody Wilds, and Jennifer Hatch. Joe Sherman and Brandon Feeney failed to finish following contact on Lap 6, which saw Feeney catch some air.
Ontario Pro Challenge Series
Tim Norris continues his domination, scoring the feature victory in front of Bryan Stevanus, Mike Norris, Peter Hattin, and Larry Majuery. Steve Trendel and Emma Norris finished sixth and seventh, while Mike O’Connell and Rick Seeley failed to finish. Devon Reyment would fail to start the feature.
Before the feature event, the series did a special ceremony for Larry Majuery to celebrate his career.
Mini Stocks
Starting on the pole, Cole Quinton drove what he called the “hardest race of his life,” holding off a hard-charging Shawn Taylor who stalked him from the drop of the green flag. Gillian Hils finished third, followed by Tyler Lewis and Kaitlyn Wallace.
Mile Gilmour finished sixth, despite a mid-race slide through the infield grass after contact with Kyle Istead. Mike Hooper followed in seventh, followed by Mike Thomson, Dave Goodacre, Rick Robinson, and Istead.
Pure Stocks
Starting on the front row, Matt Young found his way quickly to the lead, thanks to three-wide pass. He then held off Wayde Thorne on a mid-race restart to score the victory in the feature. Reece Bourgeois avoided the chaos late for a third, while Roland Goodfellow crossed the finish line in fourth but was disqualified post-race. James Houghton rounded out the top-five on-track.
Mark Thorne came across the checkered in sixth, followed by Kris Lawrence and Bobby Mercer, despite Mercer getting dead sideways in front of Lawrence and Bourgeois in the final five laps. Scott Tonelli and Kyle Lucas rounded out the top-10 on-track, in front of Chase Mitchell, Spencer Riddell, Dale Lucas, Rick VanKleef, Leo Labarbera, Nicole Stewart, Alex Stewart, and Cole Vis.
Canadian Vintage Modifieds
The front four ran close together through the event, with everyone taking a chance at a pass, but nobody was able to find their way around Mike Podd. Starting the No. 5 on the front row, he led flag-to-flag en route to the victory in front of Jerrid Morphy, Ricky Willigar, and TJ Marshall.
Quinton Murdoch rebounded to fifth following a spin off the drop of the green in front of Daryl Henwood, Steve Murdoch, Joe Arsenault, Jeremy Barton and Connor Ross. Bob Gilbert, Rodney Rutherford, Jeff Kells, and Mike Westwood failed to finish. Robbie Guy did not start the feature.

The next event at Flamboro Speedway is scheduled for Saturday, September 18, with the Pro Late Models headlining the night of racing action. Also on hand will be the Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Pro 4 Modifieds. The spectator gates will open at 5 p.m., with racing starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets will be $25.00 for adults, $20.00 for seniors 65 and older, and $5.00 for children ages six to 12. There is also a family ticket available for $55.00 which includes two adults and up to four children. Please note HST is included in those prices.
Also on Sunday September 19, the Trinity Auto Meets Annual Car Show will be taking place at the track from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. If you have a muscle car, vintage car, hot rod, or a show truck, come take part in a REV battle and burnout competition. Please note it is $20.00 per vehicle for the show. There will be giveways throughout the day, with the food concessions open.
