Kyle Steckly Captures First Career APC Series Victory in London Recreational Racing 100
MILLGROVE, Ontario --- Taking the lead in the late stages of the London Recreational Racing 100, Kyle Steckly won the APC Auto Parts United Late Model Series event at Flamboro Speedway.

The feature started off with a wreck off the green flag coming out of turn four involving Tyler Di Venanzo, Shawn McGlynn, and James Horner.
Ryan Kimball grabbed the early advantage as J.R. Fitzpatrick and Jake Sheridan battled for second. Fitzpatrick got the spot on Lap 4, bringing Pete Shepherd through with him two laps later. Sheridan now ran fourth ahead of Brandon Watson, Matt Pritiko and Kyle Steckly, as Jordan Sims and Jo Lawrence battled for eighth.
Sims got the spot on Lap 8, bringing Shane McGinnis, Shae Gemmell, and Shawn Chenoweth through with him. Lawrence now ran 12th, with Erik Della Riva and Josh Stade. Stade would try to get by, though was unable to.
Watson started to make his move forward, passing Sheridan for fourth on Lap 17, bringing Pritiko, Steckly, and Sims through with him. Sheridan ran eighth in front of Maginnis, as Chenoweth and Gemmell battled for 10th.
Shepherd would track down Fitzpatrick down for second, looking for a way by. There’d be contact on Lap 22, sending Fitzpatrick around for the spin, with contact behind between Maginnis, Chenoweth, and Gemmell. Shepherd would be sent to the back as an involved car. With 79 laps to go, Kimball led Watson, Pritiko, Steckly, Sims, and Sheridan.
The restart would see a battle for the lead between Kimball and Watson as Pritiko ran third ahead of Steckly, Sims, Sheridan, Gemmell, Della Riva, Treyten Lapcevich, Chenoweth, and Connor James. Steckly would look to move forward, getting alongside Pritiko for third on Lap 26.
With 31 laps on the board, Watson moved into the top spot, bringing Pritiko and Steckly through with him. Kimball now ran fourth ahead of Sims, Sheridan, Lapcevich, Gemmell, James, Stade, Della Riva, Shepherd, Fitzpatrick, Chenoweth, Maginnis, and Danny Benedict.
Sims continued to move forward, passing Kimball for fourth on Lap 38, as Benedict got by Maginnis for 15th. Lapcevich’s climb continued as well, taking over fifth on Lap 53, bringing Sheridan and James through with him to bump Kimball back to eighth. Kimball continued to fall back, as he was passed by Stade, Shepherd, Fitzpatrick and Benedict over the next seven laps. Gemmell ran 13th ahead of Della Riva, Maginnis, Dale Shaw, Chenoweth, and Lawrence.
The race would appear to have a green flag look as the field got spread out with the leaders knee deep in lap traffic. However, that would not last, as the caution came out on Lap 72 for Fitzpatrick slowing on the speed. With 29 laps to go, Watson led Pritiko, Steckly, Sims, Lapcevich, Sheridan, James, Stade, Shepherd, Benedict, Kimball, and Gemmell.
The restart would see a lot of bumping throughout the field, resulting in Mat Box getting turned sideways. The second attempt went cleaner with Steckly taking advantage to take over the top spot, as Lapcevich battled Watson for second. Lapcevich took the spot as Sims slotted into fourth ahead of James, Shepherd, Pritiko, Stade, Benedict, Chenoweth, Kimball, Shaw, and Maginnis.
James continued to move forward, passing Sims for fourth on Lap 86, with Shepherd and Pritiko following him through. Deeper in the field, Shaw took over 12th on Lap 92 bringing Maginnis, Andrew Gresel, and Lawrence through with him.
Kyle Steckly led the rest of the way en route to winning the event ahead of Treyten Lapcevich, Brandon Watson, Connor James, and Pete Shepherd. Matt Pritiko finished sixth, followed by Jordan Sims, Josh Stade, Danny Benedict, and Jake Sheridan.
Shawn Chenoweth placed 11th, followed by Dale Shaw, Ryan Kimball, Shae Gemmell, Shane Maginnis, Andrew Gresel, Jo Lawrence, Mat Box, Tom Gibbons, and Dustin Jackson. Erik Della Riva finished 21st, followed by J.R. Fitzpatrick, Tyler Di Venanzo, Shawn McGlynn, and James Horner.
Qwick Wick Super Stock Series
Following qualifying and the redraw, Nic Ramsay led the field to green ahead of Justin Collison, Gerrit Tiemersma, Lane Zardo, Carson Nagy, Ethan Constable, Trevor Collver, Jason Parker, Ray Morneau, Dwayne Baker, Nic Troback, Cory McAllister, Pete Vanderwyst, Paul Pepper, Todd Davenport, Johnny Morrison, Kevin Trevelin, and Ryan Dyson.
Ramsay grabbed the early advantage, with Tiemersma alongside Zardo for second. Tiemersma took the spot on Lap 2, bringing Zardo, Nagy, Constable, Collver, Morneau, Collison, and Troback. Zardo would get alongside Tiemersma for second, though was unable to complete the pass, opening the door for Nagy to try for third.
Tiemersma would track down Ramsay, giving him a tap for the top spot on Lap 8, taking the top spot a lap later. Zardo would move into second, bumping Ramsay back to third in front of Nagy, Constable, Collver, Morneau, Collison, and Troback.
McAllister would get alongside Troback for ninth on Lap 11, taking the spot four laps later, bringing Parker through with him as Dryson headed pit side. Troback now ran 11th ahead of Baker, Pepper, Cybalski, and Vanderwyst.
Constable continued to move forward, taking over fourth on Lap 14 ahead of Nagy, with Baker getting alongside Troback for 11th five laps later, taking the spot on Lap 20.
With 21 laps on the board, Tiemersma led Zardo, Constable, Nagy, Collver, Morneau, McAllister, Ramsay, Parker, Collison, Baker, Pepper, and Cybalski. With the field spread out single-file, both Baker and Pepper made their way around Collison with six laps to go.
Gerrit Tiemersma picked up the win ahead of Lane Zardo, Ethan Constable, Carson Nagy, and Ray Morneau. Cory McAllister finished sixth, followed by Nic Ramsay, Trevor Collver, Jason Parker, and Dwayne Baker. Paul Pepper placed 11th, followed by Pete Vanderwyst, Justin Collison, Dennis Cybalski, Todd Davenport, Nic Troback, Kevin Trevellin, Ryan Dyson, and Johnny Morrison.
Canadian Vintage Modifieds
Following the pre-race draw, it’d be Quinton Murdoch starting pole ahead of Mike Westwood, Joe Arsenault, Steve Murdoch, Rodney Rutherford, Mike Klotz, Rick Willigar, and Bob Gilbert. Unfortunately, the race started off with a bang as Klotz, Westwood, Jerrid Morphy, Connor Ross, and Mike Podd got tangled up together in turn four.
The yellow flag reappeared on Lap 2 with Westwood going for a spin in turn four. With just one lap on the board, Quinton Murdoch led Arsenault, Rutherford, Steve Murdoch, Gilbert, and Morphy.
Quinton Murdoch got a good restart to keep the advantage ahead of Arsenault, Rutherford, Steve Murdoch, with Gilbert and Willigar side-by-side for fifth. TJ Marshall had worked his way up to sixth with three laps on the board, in front of Morphy and Hood.
Trouble would strike again on Lap 6 as Hood would blow up going in turn one, collecting Westwood, Klotz, and Jeff Kells in the oil.
Quinton Murdoch would get a good restart once again ahead of Arsenault, with Steve Murdoch moving into third in front of Willigar and Gilbert. Marshall continued to run sixth ahead of Morphy, Michael Kenny, and Rutherford.
Arsenault would get alongside Quinton Murdoch for the lead, taking the top spot on Lap 8, as Willigar moved to third with Marshall alongside Steve Murdoch for fourth. Marshall took the spot the fourth spot on Lap 8, taking over third two laps later from Wiligar. The caution then flew on Lap 18 for Morphy stalling in turn two after getting into Murdoch.
The restart would see trouble for Marshall as his left front wheel came off.
Meanwhile, Arsenault got a good restart, pacing the field the rest of the way en route to winning. Rick Willigar finished second, followed by Quinton Murdoch, Steve Murdoch, and Bob Gilbert. Rodney Rutherford placed sixth, followed by TJ Marshall, Jerrid Morphy, Michael Kenny, and Doug Hood.
Mike Westwood finished 11th, followed by Mike Klotz, Jeff Kells, Mike Podd, and Connor Ross.

The next event at Flamboro Speedway is scheduled for September 11, featuring the Ontario Sportsman Series, Ontario Legends Series, Ontario Pro Challenge Series, Canadian Vintage Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Pure Stocks.
With the province moving into stage three of the COVID re-opening government plan, Flamboro Speedway is allowed to host 75% capacity in the grandstands.
No tickets will be sold online, but rather available at the gate on a first come, first serve basis.
The spectator gates will open at 5 pm with racing kicking off at 6 pm sharp.
Tickets will be $25 for adults at the front gate, $20 for seniors 65 and older, and $5 for children ages 6-12. You can also buy a family pass for $55.00 which includes two adults and up to four children. Please note HST is included in those prices.
This weekend’s event is part of a busy month for Flamboro Speedway, as they will also host twin 150-lap events for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series on Sunday, September 12. Once again, no tickets will be sold online, but rather available at the gate on a first come, first serve basis.
